99 Neighbors' "Guts" is a Tough Record

For those that don't know about this crew, let me formally introduce you to 99 Neighbors. Based in Burlington, Vermont, the collective consists of nine members: Swank, HANKNATIVE, Sam Paulino, Aidan Ostby, Juju, Somba, Jared Fier, Cal Rawlings, and Shane Kaseta. Their latest single, GUTS, is headlined by Swank, HANKNATIVE, and Sam Paulino with Somba providing the production.
"GUTS" immediately grabs your attention within the first second as Sam says "so what's up" before the menacing beat starts to build. Though their flows and styles are different, Sam, Swank, and HANKNATIVE compliment each other so well throughout the record. "GUTS" serves as the follow-up to their two-pack song bundle of QWOP and Basement. To an extent, you can see the influence of Odd Future and Brockhampton in 99 Neighbors, but I can definitely see the Vermont collective picking up the baton and running with it in their own direction. Hopefully, with these new songs releasing, we're getting closer to a new album from the crew. Until that day comes, you can checkout their 2018 project Television and stream "GUTS" below.
