Proof Benny the Butcher is Here

Whether it was in the streets or in his music, Benny the Butcher has always put the necessary work in to be considered one of the best at what he does. His latest album, Burden of Proof, is a testament to that. Mixed and Mastered by Young Guru with Hit-Boy producing every record, Benny celebrates his new life while still reminiscing on his old one. From one line to the next, Benny may touch on his days on the block in Buffalo before speaking on what his days are like now.
"I remember doin' stick ups for less than a hundred dollars
Now we don't get dressed for less than a hundred thousand"
("Famous")
Benny's confidence and skill is what separates him from many of other rappers in the game today. His skillset as a rapper shouldn't come as a surprise though as he's been rapping with Conway The Machine, one of rap's best lyricists, since his earliest days. As the old saying goes, "iron sharpens iron." Benny and Conway trade bars on the record War Paint with Westside Gunn handling the hook. The Griselda trio of Benny, Conway, and Westside are to hip-hop right now as the '90s Bulls with Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman were to the NBA: consistent, dominant, and a team you shouldn't play around with.
Along with Conway, Burden of Proof also features guest appearances from the likes of Freddie Gibbs, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Big Sean and more. With features like the aforementioned, some rappers may have the fear of being outshined or "big bro'd" on their own record, but not Benny. Rap comes easy to him ("Burden of Proof") and where he may lack, his confidence is always there to fill in the gaps. Benny closes out the album in fashion with his record Legend. After giving us 4 flawless verses, Benny summarizes the album's meaning and what he wants us to take away from it with his final words:

"They tried tell me I'ma be a legend soon though
I'm a legend now"
("Legend")
