In Homage to his Homeland, Mach-Hommy Releases "Pray for Haiti"

It's been a few weeks now since Mach-Hommy released his highly anticipated album, Pray For Haiti, and I'm still here in awe every time I press play on the album. Executively produced by Griselda's own Westside Gunn, Hommy puts on a lyrical exercise over the simplistic, sample-heavy and sometimes dark, melodic beats. "Next tape might hear me sliding on flamenco / Or calypso / Maybe you should tip-toe / Let a clip go / Flip you like crypto" he raps on Makrel Jaxon. No matter the production, Hommy found the pocket on each song he rapped on.
"Pray For Haiti" is not only special because of the musical aspect, but also because Hommy is donating 20 percent of the album’s proceeds toward the Pray for Haiti Trust Fund to improve schools in Port-au-Prince. "For too many years, I’ve had countless heartfelt conversations with esteemed members of the Haitian Diaspora, and the best way to get charitable donations directly to the people", Hommy said in a statement. He continues by saying, "too many of us can recall the Millions of telethon dollars ‘pledged’ and, according to all major media accounts, not actually ‘donated’ to those in need..." Hommy is a man of the people and is here to leave a lasting impact outside of his musical gifts.
