ELI DERBY’S ‘LEFT ON READ’ EP IS A GRAND MUSIC ENTRANCE FOR THE TEENAGER

Eli Derby is an 18-year-old R&B prodigy from Maryland who is under the Love Renaissance label abbreviated LVRN. The first time we heard from the teenager was in 2020 when he delivered a cover of This Christmas which was part of the LVRN’s Christmas album Home For The Holidays.
Eli Derby is now stepping out of the shadows and further solidifying his voice in the R&B/Soul space with an EP he calls Left On Read. Derby may be young but he definitely has lots of experience in relationships, love, and communication.
In the EP’s official trailer, Derby mentions how generation Z disregard human-to-human interactions. Left On Read is a 5-track EP. The lead track of the EP, Gaslight, was released in 2021 but the EP hit the airwaves on 25th March 2022.
Gaslight is a classic R&B tune running with emotions. It epitomizes the lack of faithfulness that characterizes Gen Z relationships and how some partners often lie to cover their tracks.
Most of the tracks on the EP were solo performances except Lately where he features 6LACK. Lately portrays the stalking that often follows a broken relationship.
The last song on the EP is Go Home. Here, Derby tells a story of a raunchy one-night-stand that the girl enjoyed so much and refused to leave afterward. Left on Read is all shades of love and romance and will make a good companion for anyone going through any form of heart trauma as a result of a failed love story.
