Isaiah Rashad Makes His Return with his New Record, "Lay Wit Ya”

Mduduzi Hlatshwayo • May 14, 2021

It's been over a year since we've last heard from Isaiah Rashad. Prior to dropping his 2020 single Why Worry, the TDE artist was off the radar for over 4 years after dropping his album The Sun’s Tirade. We've learned since then that Isaiah was dealing with a multitude of issues, including depression, that he speaks on in his cover story with Fader.

The Chattanooga-raised rapper makes his triumphant return with his new single Lay Wit Ya featuring Memphis rapper Duke Deuce. On paper, I couldn't even imagine what a collab record from these two would have even sounded like, but as we now know from the final product, they're a match made in heaven. "Lay Wit Ya" is the first single from Isaiah's forthcoming album, House Is Burning, which is due this June.

In a recent press release, Isaiah touched on his love of music, “Music is where I go to express myself. It’s what I do to close a chapter." Whether Isaiah decides to take another hiatus after dropping this project or not, we're all just glad he's in a better space now to continue to create and do what he loves.

Goddard and Cat Burns started the new year with a heater! These two went in and might have just made one of the best dNb tracks to come out this year and we're barely getting started. Wasted Youth is about an old lover venting their frustrations about the end of a long-term relationship in their cherished youth. Our youth is a highlight we all remember throughout our lives and Burns packs the feels and emotions that stir the pot of memories and emotions those who experienced this type of breakup might feel. Her voice is booming and beautiful throughout and, all in all, Wasted Youth is an emotional, high-energy hit that is ready to be blasted across the airwaves in the year to come.
