Since coming to the limelight in 2019, Ego Ella May has continued to dish out good soul music. On 8 March 2022, May decided to serve her fans all over the world an EP titled FIELDNOTES PT II to keep them engaged for longer—and we are totally loving it.

The 5-track EP is characterized by tracks with a slow but groovy drumline and May’s velvety voice that will make a great playlist for a date night with lots of candles and slow music. The message from FIELDNOTES PT II cuts across ambitions, heartbreak, and a flamboyant display of affection.

The first track on the album, Beautiful Days zooms in on the musings in the mind of a young lady who wishes to be a wife but is unsure of how to meet the perfect man or how to react. This track will hit differently for a poet because part of the song reads like spoken words.

From dreaming about love, track 3 titled Why veers into heartbreak. Here, the soul singer is asking why she has to make the same mistake over and over again. There is a tinge of regret in her voice and this track will resonate with anyone going through a messy relationship for the second time.

The last track on the EP, For The Both Of Us, is all about moving on after a breakup. As May rightly points out, “Life don’t stop living because you left”. No matter what you are going through, remember that life has to go on.
