Don Toliver Doesn't Miss on His Latest Album, "Life of a Don"

While I've heard a few Don Toliver records here and there, he wasn't fully on my radar until I heard Drugs N Hella Melodies back in June. Him and Kali Uchis had a true hit on their hands. During my first listen, I said the words, "OH they got one with this", within the first minute, and then proceeded to run the song back 5 more times in a row. From that point on, I was hyped for Don's forthcoming album.
Finally released at the beginning of October, Don Toliver's latest LP, Life of a Don, immediately gave me "album of the year" energy. Along with Kali Uchis, the 16-track project features guest appearances from the likes of Travis Scott, Baby Keem, HVN, and SoFaygo. From the melodic lyrics to his overall sound, Don Toliver has fully stepped into his own as an artist.
“Yeah, it’s definitely I feel [it's] my best work right now, man. Man, it’s been a crazy process", Toliver said in an interview with Zane Lowe. "This album, it’s been a part of my life. Honestly, Cactus Jack as a whole helped me, but with this album in particular I did a lot of creative control, a lot of it, which makes me very proud of this album in particular because I just went full-fledged Don mode."
