Chiiild Delivers on His Debut Album, "Hope For Sale"

Whether the artist consciously knows it or not, debut albums will always have an immense weight to them. They give the audience a view into not only what the artist has been working on up to that point, but also what we can expect to hear from them moving forward. The debut album is a milestone in that artist's life that will serve as a point of reflection to them 10+ years down the road. The importance to deliver on their first, "real" project is at an all-time high. Montreal-born artist Chiiild, who is based in LA, faced the expectations of a debut album head on and passed with flying colors with the release of his album Hope For Sale.
The 11-track project blends the musical elements of funk, pop, and R&B as well as some shades of alternative rock. Featuring guest appearances from Mahalia and Jensen McRae, Chiiild looked to create an album that felt nostalgic in nature. "Musically, it’s about chasing a certain feeling that you had when growing up”, Chiiild told Apple Music. Chiiild utilized those feelings to craft the sound of "Hope For Sale" but also wanted to make sure the album reflected the current time we're in. "If you listen to this record and remember this time, I feel like I’ve done my job. And when I listen to this record in 10 years, I’m going to remember this moment and it’s going to be a special experience for myself. And I hope it is for everyone else."
