“AWAKEN, MY LOVE” (ALBUM) – CHILDISH GAMBINO

After having quite a busy 2016 without releasing much music, Childish Gambino has come back to life, but in a way you’ve never heard him before in his third album “Awaken, My Love.” Being a man ahead of his time, Donald Glover takes us back to the 70s with these experimental, funky vibes mixed with a true soulful feel. If you previously heard his two lead singles, Me and Your Mama and Redbone, then just know that this is a continuation of that same dream, however, at just the right times, Bino throws in some sparingly placed autotune to remind us that it is still 2016.
With no features mentioned, Donald handles the vocals throughout all 11 tracks further proving his versatility and ability. It’s dope to see an artist willing to step way away from the current norm of “what’s hot” and reviving a distant sound that the old heads could reminisce to while the new generation experiences something new. And out of everybody, I couldn’t see anybody else pulling this off better than Gambino. So with no more teasers in the way, all you Childish fans can rejoice now that his album is here, and get lost in these new waves below.
