Boy Pablo's coming-of-age love story, "Wachito Rico"

Boy Pablo started to make some noise in 2017 when their song Everytime went viral. Since then the song has amassed over 34 millions views to date. Lead by Chilean–Norwegian frontman and singer songwriter Nicolas Muñoz, Boy Pablo has released 3 projects in total: Roy Pablo, Soy Pablo, and their debut album, Wachito Rico. The LP is about the story of a young boy falling in love with a girl, "It's just like a regular love story really from a coming-of-age movie. Me and my manager were watching a lot of movies by Wes Anderson and Jared Hess, so inspired by that we created a story of our own", Muñoz says in an interview with NPR.
Muñoz splits his story of "Wachito Rico"
up into 5 parts with songs serving as the chapters: Hey Girl,
Honey, Rest Up,
Leave Me Alone, and
Wachito Rico
(you can watch the full movie
here). The bubbly, laidback sound of the album with the smooth synths and guitar riffs pairs well with the love-story theme. Muñoz set out to create his own love story and he accomplished it. The feelings of getting to know someone, falling in love, and dealing with the ups and downs of relationships are all things that people can relate to, and Muñoz spoke to those elements throughout the 13-track album. Enjoy.
